Welcome to the Bark Commanders

If you have been here before you will notice changes!

Courses: (the biggest change)

  • The Courses have been updated and now feature the option to track your progress as you work through the program.

  • If you click the “completed” link at the bottom of each exercise it will mark it completed (you can still access it later, but when you come back to the course it will just advance you to the next exercise, and on the overview page it will show the ones completed).

  • You can choose to work the courses in order if you are just getting started, just hit the “start course” button at the top of the course and it will just take you through the course exercise by exercise.

  • You can use the “course overview” page to pick and choose what exercises you want to work on if you have already worked some of them last year, or are looking for a specific thing to work on.

  • There is new material added, some have updated video demos added, most all of the exercises now have downloadable PDF instructions in addition to the videos.

Events Calendar:

  • On the homepage just scroll down and you will see the upcoming events for the next two months out. What you see currently is the minimum starting point, we will see how many folks we get enrolled, the more folks that join the Academy, the more classes I can afford to schedule 🙂

  • There are monthly Reactivity Support Groups, if the time doesn’t work for you let me know and we can see if we can adjust the time if you are really hoping to get in. I highly recommend coming if you have a reactive dog!

Bark Commanders Get 1 thirty minute private zoom per month!

Don’t forget to set up your first meeting!

Schedule your one on one Zoom:

  • If you had a set schedule last year, we have probably talked and you are welcome to keep your same regular appointment time.

  • You can use the scheduling button on the home page to find yourself a day and time that works for you!

  • If you don’t see any options that work shoot me an email dawn@thehikerpup.com and we will figure something out!

  • We can set up a regular day & time each month or you can schedule month to month, whatever works best for you!

  • If you schedule month to month put a reminder in your phone, it’s easy to let a month go by and forget to schedule a meeting!

  • Zoom calls do not roll over to the next month, so use them or lose them! If you have special circumstances and contact me ahead of time we can roll a meeting or two over, but otherwise if you don’t use them, you can’t make them up later.

  • You can reschedule meetings with a 24hr notice using the scheduling link, just find a new time, if it is inside of 24hrs it won’t let you reschedule. So if it’s within 24hrs you will need to message or email me. I’m ok with that happening once or twice, if it ends up being a regular thing that plays havoc with my schedule and keeps others from being able to use that time slot so I lose $, if it is over 24hrs I can open that spot to folks waiting for an appointment 🙂

Before we meet

Take sometime to think about what you want to focus on together this year! If you liked how last year went, just take sometime to reflect and see if you want to adjust anything. If last year left you wishing you had____ let’s talk about how we can adapt to making that work better this year.

Private FaceBook Group:

  • You don’t have to join the FB group, but it’s an easy place for you to post videos if you want my feedback throughout the month between sessions.

  • Folks who don’t use FB usually create a YouTube playlist (you can make them “Unlisted” to keep them private) and before each private zoom they send me the link and I watch them before we meet.

  • I WON’T download videos onto my devices to provide feedback, it takes way too long and I don’t have the space on my computer to do that! So use either FB, YouTube or Vimeo so I can go watch them without downloading.

  • You don’t have to make me homework videos, but it does help me to help you more. If you need help with filming and editing tips let me know!

  • There are two FB groups: the Bark Commanders is for you all only and is just for you to ask me questions rather than the whole group and a place where you can upload your homework videos all in one spot so they stay organized. The Academy FB group is for connecting with the bigger academy, and you are probably already familiar with how that works. You do not have to join the Academy FB but it is a nice way to stay connected. But again, you don’t have to join either if you don’t want to.
